I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of your Despatch No.393 of the 20th. December 1900, respecting the Estimates of the Revenue and Expen-
diture of this Colony for 1901.

Your assumption in paragraph 3, that
the Quarry Farm takes the place of the item Stone Quar-
ries under Head of the Revenue Estimates, is correct;
and with regard to the constitution of this farm, I have
the honour to refer you to Colonial Office Despatch No.2
of the 18th. January, 1848. The first farm dates from
the 1st. September, 1848, since which time, there has
always been a Quarry Farm in existence in this Coleny.
In explanation of the figures refer-
red to by you in paragraph 5, I have the honour to in-
form you that, as it was foreseen that
of any large amount could be collected in the New Ter-
ritory last year, it was estimated that approximately
